Narciso Mascaró Marcé was born in 1894 into a family engaged in the wine trade and distilling.
It was only in 1945 that Narciso founded his own company and began to produce Cava (Sparkling wine), wines and spirits under the Mascaró brand.
In 1966 his son Antonio Mascaró Carbonell took over the management of the company. His renovating drive and the great passion he felt for his trade led him to extend and to personalise the product range being made.
On 1 January 1999, we became a limited company called ANTONIO MASCARÓ S.L., though the company continued to be a family business in every way, with Antonio's daughter Montserrat Mascaró working alongside her father in running the company.
The Vineyards
On the company's estates - "Mas Miquel", formerly owned by the monks in the neighbouring Cistercian monastery of Santes Creus, and "El Castell" in the municipal district of La Munia - the classic Penedès grape varieties (Macabeo, Xarel.lo and parellada) are painstakingly cultivated, along with other, more innovative varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay).
The grapes from these vineyards are meticulously and professionally processed at Mascaró's wine cellars and distilleries in Vilafranca del Penedès.
The Style (The Spirit)
The personal style of the products made by Mascaró is based on respecting the inherent character of the grape, preserving its essence and freshness throughout the wine-making and ageing process.
A style that takes its inspiration from the paradoxical quest once pursued by the alchemists:
"Eternal Youth"
